Mrs Sibongile Nemariyam Kiflom and Tender-Hearted Ltd v Care Quality Commission [2024] UKFTT 0447 (HESC) - Successfully represented the CQC in an appeal against cancellation of the Appellants’ registrations before the First-tier Tribunal (Health, Education and Social Care Chamber).
Claire Stevenson successfully represented Dr U before the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (‘MPTS’) who found that Dr U’s fitness to practise is no longer impaired. The MPTS revoked the order of suspension on Dr U’s registration with immediate effect.
It is with enormous pleasure that we announce that Counsel Sophie Quinton-Carter and Claire Stevenson have been successful in their applications to join the Regulatory Panel for Health and Safety and Environmental Law.
The provider appealed after their registration to provide childcare at two nursery settings was cancelled. The appellant had a poor inspection history. Over eight years, there had been a number of inspections, resulting in numerous breaches of the Early Years Foundation Stage, and notices being issued, which were not complied with.
Concerns were raised following an inspection which obtained an “Inadequate” judgment. Despite numerous visits, phone calls and letters, the Early Year Regulatory Inspector was unable to establish contact with the defendant and conduct monitoring visits.
Claire acted for the defence in the trial of a 26 year old man at Snaresbrook Crown Court on the 3rd April 2018. The defendant was facing a three-count indictment, one of affray, and two of racially aggravated public order offences.
